Metpost Driving Tool FAQ's

Metpost Driving Tool FAQ's

What are Fence Spurs?

A fence spur is used to support fence panels by bracing or repairing an existing fence. It is designed to repair timber fence posts that have rotted at the base.

Using Fence Spurs provides an economical alternative to replacing wooden fence posts that have rotted away at ground level.

Fence Spurs are the quickest and most effective way to fix a wobbly wooden fence.

Concrete Fence Spur Installation

When concreting repair spurs into the ground the posts should be buried a minimum depth of 2ft into the ground.

A demolition bar may be required if the pervious concrete mix is hard to break when digging. Once the hole has been dug, check the bottom of the hole is level so the spur sits flat.

Fixing Fence Spurs

Dig out a hole 600mm deep against the rotted post. Place the repair spur in the hole and mark up the bolt holes.

Remove the spur and drill the holes through the wooden post. Replace the spur into the hole and bolt it to the wooden post.

Fence Spur Sizes

Repair Spurs are available in two sizes: 1.2m x 100mm x 100mm or 1m x 75mm x 75mm.

The 100mm posts have three drilled holes for the screws/bolts and the 75mm posts have two holes.
