What is Weed Membrane?

Weed membrane’s primary purpose is to keep weeds at bay and is useful for using under any patio, gravel beds or outdoor structures. Weed control fabric is designed to let water pass through the membrane to ensure soil still receives the nutrients it requires.

Where is Weed Membrane Used?

The woven geotextile fabric can be used for weed suppression, ground stabilisation in both soft and hard landscaping schemes. Our membranes can be used beneath MOT Type 1 or 3 aggregate, sharp/angular stone and gravel, including areas subject to pedestrian or vehicular traffic such as pathways, patios and driveways.

Best Types of Weed Membrane

Typically made from polyester or polypropylene, non-woven landscape fabrics are best suited for preventing weed growth in rock or gravel paths or beds. Non-woven landscape fabrics are less permeable than woven options, so they will prevent water and nutrients from getting to the soil below.

Benefits of Weed Membrane

The material acts as an effective barrier between weeds and sunlight, making it difficult for weeds to germinate and grow. However, a good weed mat also allows for maximum water flow, ensuring that the plants get sufficient moisture and proper drainage.

• Lay the Landscape Fabric
• Secure the Fabric With Staples
• Plant Through the Landscape Fabric (Optional)
• Add Mulch (Optional)
