Road Safety

We recognise the need to educate both children and adults alike, of the potential hazards involved with road safety, which is why we provide a series of practical and theoretical learning opportunities to various audiences.

Road Safety

The Mick George Group operate an extensive fleet of over 500 commercial vehicles and subsequently place great importance on all issues relating to Road Safety.

We invest significant time and resources year-on-year to help emphasise these vital messages to those with whom we share the roads with, as well as the wider communities that are implicated.

Over the years, we have visited many education providers, delivering campaigns aimed specifically at younger road users, physically demonstrating and offering theoretical illustrations on how best to stay road safe. In addition, we’ve also completed similar events in other high footfall locations such as shopping centres, football stadiums and hospitals, to further reinforce the road safety message.

Road Safety Demonstrations:

Community Roadwatch

The Mick George Group have financially supported local Community Roadwatch Groups to ensure that hauliers passing through local villages are compliant with routing agreements and to certify that no motoring offences are being committed.

No Drive Zones and Advisory Speed Limits

Committed in our road safety responsibilities, the Mick George Group voluntarily operate a number of ‘no drive zones’ and advisory speed limit restrictions within specified business operating areas.

Having invested in modern tracking technology to ensure that the company’s vehicles are complying with routing agreements, the initiatives are dedicated to minimise disruption for local residents.

Enforced 20mph advisory speed limits and financial contributions to road safety signage and speed monitoring devices, are further examples of our contribution towards improving the safety of our our counties roads.

Road Safety Testimonial

We are pleased to see the Mick George Group instigating this initiative to reduce the risk to our community from HGV traffic. It is imperative that all haulage companies follow this lead and stick to their routing agreements. The noise and vibration caused by HGV traffic is a major concern of our parishioners and any means of reducing or eliminating it, is to be welcomed. We are most grateful to the Mick George Group for their efforts. It is much appreciated.

Road Safety Testimonial

For several years the HGV Group has campaigned to persuade hauliers and the relevant authorities to reduce the HGV traffic through fen villages. We were therefore delighted to hear that the Mick George Group has decided to voluntarily ban their vehicles from these routes, unless delivering along them. We think it is highly significant that the Mick George Group has decided to use modern technology to enforce their policy. We hope others will follow this example and exercise their corporate social responsibility towards our communities.
