From 1 October 2026, permitted waste-receiving sites in England and Wales will be required to record waste received through the government’s new Digital Waste Tracking service.
Digital Waste Tracking: A New Era
In line with new regulations, the Mick George Group have developed a direct integration between our systems and the government service, enabling us to manage the required digital recording and reporting for waste received at our permitted facilities, helping our customers remain compliant while keeping disruption to a minimum.
What is Digital Waste Tracking?
Digital Waste Tracking is a new government service designed to create a clearer, more consistent record of how waste is produced, transported and managed.
By bringing waste information into a central digital record, the system aims to improve traceability, strengthen regulatory oversight and help tackle illegal waste activity.
The first phase becomes mandatory for permitted waste-receiving sites in England and Wales from 1 October 2026, with further requirements expected for waste carriers, brokers and dealers from October 2027.
What does this mean for Mick George customers?
For most customers, very little will change.
You can continue to order skips, containers and waste services in the same way as you do today. Behind the scenes, our systems will manage the relevant Digital Waste Tracking requirements when waste is received at our permitted facilities.
We will:
- Record and report relevant waste information at our permitted facilities
- Maintain clear digital records of waste received and managed
- Continue to provide appropriate waste transfer documentation
- Keep you informed as further regulatory requirements are introduced
- Support you where additional information is required
You remain responsible for providing complete and accurate information about your waste and meeting your own duty of care obligations.

What Information Will I Need To Provide?
What Information Will I Need To Provide?
We do not currently expect significant changes to the ordering process. However, depending on the waste type and service, we may need additional information to ensure the digital record is accurate.
This could include:
- Where the waste was produced
- Waste type and description
- Waste classification or EWC code
- The activity that produced the waste
- Details of any hazardous or restricted materials
- Waste producer details
- Relevant project, site or purchase order references
