Going forward, Government, industry, and consumers must work together to drive real change
Residual Landfill Statistics
Residual waste sent to landfill decreased by 15.3% between 2019 and 2023, according to recent reports. The data was released on 8th May 2025 and covers municipal and residual waste generated between 2019 and 2023.
A positive Step for Landfill Reduction
The statistics represent a positive downward trend for landfill waste tonnages and shine a light on companies and individuals within the industry that are making an impact. Despite this being a good step in the right direction, more still needs to be done if the industry is to hit it’s targets set for 2028.
Going forward, Government, industry, and consumers must work together to drive real change – making waste reduction a priority and embedding circularity into every stage of the supply chain.
