One of our most popular railway sleepers and continually growing in popularity for landscapers and keen gardeners.

They are a lovely brown treated softwood that will achieve an attractive dark brown/grey finish with the bleaching effect of the sun within a few months, perfect for most garden uses, water features, decking, patios, raised beds, borders, etc.

The range of new railway sleepers are ideal to create raised beds, steps, retaining walls or just an attractive feature. These new garden railway sleepers are a great way of giving your garden a timeless feel. Our sleepers are brand new and have none of the scuffs and holes of the reclaimed sleepers.

All our new softwood, garden railway sleepers are pressure treated to ensure the maximum lifespan and to prevent insect attack and fungal decay.

As with all natural materials, our Timber supply may be subject to movement and deterioration as they season, this is not to considered to be a fault or defect. This may become evident with shakes, splits and warping.

Zone 2:

Delivery Logistics: All our Timber range products will be delivered by 3rd party vehicles.

Kerbside delivery applies as standard, but we will typically try to deliver to your front garden or driveway – We will leave the product in a safe location adjacent to the main roadway, but off of any public highways.

**If a delivery scheduled is to a gated community, this will need to be communicated to us in advance and access provided. Where restricted access applies, if waiting times are encountered for the delivery, then additional charges may be incurred.

Cancellations, Exchanges; Failed Deliveries:

• For any orders that are returned (unless deemed faulty), the customer is liable for the return shipping fees equivalent to that incurred in the original order (Timber orders also incur a 75% charge of the initial order value).
• In the unlikely event that we’re unable to complete the scheduled delivery due to access restrictions or a non-secure delivery location, the customer is responsible for the restocking and redelivery fees. If the delivery can’t be rescheduled, then no refund is available.
• If your products are faulty, please email photo evidence over within 24 hours for review.
• All returns or exchange requests need communicating to us via email or telephone within 3 Working Days to be considered (faulty, or not).
• If your order arrives incorrect (missing items etc.), this also needs communicating to us via email or telephone within 3 Working Days to be considered (faulty, or not).

What are Railway Sleepers?

Traditionally used to lay rail tracks on, Railway Sleepers are large rectangular sawn pieces of timber that are now used in a variety of landscaping and gardening environments, such as raised beds, lawn and border edging, steps, pathways and retaining walls.

All of our railway sleepers are made from softwood for easier handling and are pressure treated to ensure your Sleepers are protected from rot, fungus and insect attack, prolonging the longevity of the Sleeper condition.

Where are Railway Sleepers Used?

Railway sleepers can be used in all manner of ways.

The most popular uses for railway sleepers are retaining walls, border edging and raised beds, however, we have seen people make raised deck areas from them, use sleepers vertically to create fences and walls, and one customer even used railway sleepers to make a swimming pool for the summer!

They can be secured and lined to make ponds, and many gardeners and landscapers use them to make benches, tables and other features in the garden. For a more modern touch, we’d recommend pairing our railway sleepers with gabion baskets.

Sleepers are mainly used for retaining walls, garden steps, edging/borders etc to add that stunning and professional look to your garden that only sleepers can provide – this is our area of expertise.

Railway Sleeper Installation

Railway sleepers are known to shrink over time, so securing them tight is very important.

The best thing to use are railway sleeper screws and brackets. These may need to be changed over a few years to keep them as secure as possible.

Railway Sleeper Sizes

The most common length for Sleepers are 2.6 metres or 8ft 6″ long.

The most common width is 250mm or 10″. And the most common thickness is 125mm & 150mm (5″ & 6″).
