What is MOT Type 1?

Type 1 MOT is an aggregate that can be made up of many different materials including limestone, crushed concrete and granite. There are many different types of Type 1 MOT, mostly differentiated by size and material.

Both primary and recycled material can be used to produce a Type 1 sub-base.

MOT Type 1 Benefits

Approved by the Ministry of Transport, Type 1 MOT Granite provides an approved stable and durable sub-base for high traffic road surfaces and path construction.

This crushed granite sub-base is specifically formulated to deliver a flat and compact surface with excellent load-bearing capacity. Varying particle sizes ensure they interlock to distribute weight evenly and prevent settlement.

Where is MOT Type 1 Used?

Use MOT Type 1 granite as a finished surface below a top coat of concrete, asphalt, block paving or shingle for your patio, garden path or driveway.

Commercial and civil engineering applications include roads, motorways, car parks and building bases.
