Tablet Computers Waste Disposal

In the past, tablet computers and similar devices would often end up in landfill at the end of their life, but it is becoming increasingly easier to safely recycle them. If your tablet cannot be repaired or salvaged for parts, it should be properly disposed of. Tablet computers can be recycled but cannot be mixed in with regular home recycling like paper and plastic.

Tablet computers, eReaders and their charging cables all count as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment or WEEE and must be disposed of correctly. Tablet computers, similar to smartphones, are made up of many complex materials such as metals, plastics, glass, and electrical components. Tablet computers as well as other electronics can often release dangerous or toxic substances that can harm you and the environment when disposed of incorrectly. For example, tablet touch screens and internal batteries can release mercury during the disposal process, which needs to be handled correctly to prevent contamination.

If you’re not sure how to dispose of a tablet computer and want to prevent your device from unnecessarily going to landfill, The Mick George Group’s waste management services can safely recycle WEEE waste such as tablets, eReaders and more. We guarantee that your unwanted and unusable tablets will be safely disposed of according to regulations to minimise environmental impact.
