Fridge Freezer Disposal

Once upon-a-time, disposal of large appliances such as Fridge Freezers were fairly simple; left on the street for your local Man & Van to collect. However, that’s no longer the case, as a number of environmental factors now need to be considered.

The insulation and refrigerant coolant box contained inside are classified as hazardous waste, and contain harmful gases which could leak from the appliance if it’s not disposed of safely

Historically, it was common place for fridge freezers to end up in landfill at the end of their life, but it is becoming increasingly easier to safely recycle them. If your fridge freezer cannot be repaired or salvaged for parts, it should be properly disposed of. We can offer fridge disposal, fridge freezer disposal and chest freezer disposal too.

All refrigerators and freezers count as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment or WEEE and must be disposed of correctly. Many refrigerators, particularly older fridges, contain ozone depleting substances such as CFCs and insulating materials that can be harmful if released into the environment, so these substances need to be handled correctly to prevent contamination.
