Having undergone a sequence of upgrades, St. Thomas a Becket Church, Ramsey has completed works which has significantly improved accessibility, audio and visual enhancements throughout the facility.
Courtesy of a generous £18,085 donation from local construction specialist, the Mick George Group, this Grade I Listed Building which dates back to the 13th Century is another step closer towards achieving the Parish Councils goal of making the Church a truly communal facility that will benefit all nearby residents, regardless of status and physical or mental ability.
Where previously restrictions existed for those with hearing and sight impediments, people with disabilities or mothers with pushchairs, this is no longer the case and all visitors can now experience the amenity in exactly the same way.
In addition to facilitating the principal religious requirements, a host of other user groups are set to profit from the changes and will see a more diverse use of the location, including private functions, concerts, food banks, special interest groups, citizens advice, toddler gatherings, AA sessions and pensioner lunches.
Having already built a new disabled toilet and revamped the kitchen servery, there are now further plans in the pipeline for flexible seating and storage areas to be installed.
