What are London Bricks?

London stock brick is the type of handmade brick which was used for the majority of building work in London and South East England until the growth in the use of Flettons and other machine-made bricks in the early 20th century.

London bricks are available in a variety of red, buff, yellow and grey colours with red being the most commonly sought.

Most London Bricks have a light texture, such as Brecken grey with its diagonal lines etched into the surface or Claydon Red Multi with a more natural looking horizontal imprint, while others, for example, Golden Buff and Hereward Light have an almost smooth surface.

London Brick Installation

It’s not a project for the casual homeowner without handyman skills. A brick wall, which will require mortar, is a difficult project. Experts say that you shouldn’t even try to build a brick wall over 4 feet high (1.2 meters) on your own unless you are an experienced bricklayer.
