Standardised Prescribed Concrete or ST Concrete mixes are a defined list of Concretes within BS 8500 which are made with a prescribed quantity of materials as required in the British Standard. SPCs are fairly basic mixes and have no strength guarantee, although this can be assumed based on the values contained within BS 8500.

ST1 or wet lean mix Concrete is widely used in general, non-structural projects both commercial and domestic.
Concrete strength: 7.5N/mm2 at 28 days
Ideal for:
- Kerb or Edge Bedding
- Blinding
- Haunching
- Drainage

ST2 Concrete is used throughout the construction industry for general and house building applications. The ideal Concrete for non-reinforced foundations and slab bases for houses, extensions orangeries or conservatories. It is also widely used as trench-fill, drainage edge bedding, kerbing and patios.
Concrete strength:Â 10N/mm2 at 28 days
Ideal for:
- Non-reinforced strip footings
- Fence posts
- Small domestic use external use bases
- Pad foundations
- Trench fill
- Internal floor – blinding

ST3 is the perfect Concrete for domestic applications and foundations. It is widely used in internal floor slabs.
Concrete strength: 15N/mm2 at 28 days
Ideal for:
- Bases
- Foundations for patios, orangeries, garages, houses and extensions
- Paving for patios
- Non-reinforced bases and oversites

ST4 Concrete is one of the wettest ST mixes. This means the consistency of the mix is extremely fluid. It is a popular Concrete mix used throughout lightweight commercial and domestic projects agriculture and industrial applications.
Concrete strength: 20N/mm2 at 28 days
Ideal for:
- Bedding
- Garages
- Bases for sheds and workshops
- Floor slabs

ST5 Concrete is used mainly for structural and support beams, roadworks & agricultural applications. It is also popular in external paving and floor slab construction.
Concrete strength: 25N/mm2 at 28 days
Ideal for:
- Agricultural equipment stores
- Signage posts for highways
- Slabs
- External paving base
