Light Bulb Disposal
The Mick George Group collect, segregate and manage Waste Electrical and Electronic equipment (WEEE) such as Light Bulbs to safeguard against potentially harmful materials contaminating other waste streams, saving you additional landfill charges.
Light Bulb Waste Disposal
Most people are in the dark when it comes to lightbulb disposal and with good reason, as not all light bulbs can be disposed of equally.
Energy efficient bulbs like CFLs and some LEDs contain materials that are harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly, as they contain potentially harmful substances, particularly mercury, lead, and cadmium. Â These substances can be absorbed through the skin or by inhalation, which could be harmful to you, wildlife and the environment, if inadvertently contaminated.
Only incandescent (including those made with argon, krypton, and xenon gases) and halogen bulbs can be disposed of with your regular rubbish, as these are not considered Hazardous Waste.
