Upgraded Facilities for Leicestershire & Rutland Youth Sailing Association
The Mick George Community Fund has funded a project to provide power, water and drainage for a community hub building at North Watermead Country Park in Syston, permitting the installation of toilets and showers to be usable by the Leicestershire & Rutland Youth Sailing Association (LRYSA).
The previous facilities were in a very bad state of repair and without investment we are under threat of closure.
It is anticipated that the project will increase participation in outdoor activities, specifically for those considered less advantaged, due to the types of leisure and recreational opportunities that exist on the site. The impact of this investment will be to provide facilities for all to promote good health and wellbeing and just having fun in the fresh air!
The LRYSA is a fully inclusive Charity run by volunteers with the aim to make sailing accessible to the whole of our community regardless of their mental or physical abilities, age or background, and is the only Royal Yachting Association Sailability accredited facility in Leicestershire. The LRYSA relies on local funding to be able to maintain the level of boats and equipment needed to safely offer services at a very low cost or free to Vulnerable groups.
