St Marys Church Thornhaugh
Once normal service resumes at St. Mary’s Church, Wansford, visitors will be greeted with a revamped facility that is set to appeal to a much wider audience.
Thanks to a £12,741 grant agreed earlier this year from local construction firm the Mick George Group, the venue has undergone renovation which has converted this previously restrictive space in to a much more flexible and attractive destination for local communities to utilise.
The former pews from the nave area of the church have been replaced with moveable seating, catering for up to 80 people at any one time. When you consider that the nearest social space only holds 20 guests, you can see how the refurbed amenity will benefit.
Equally, a bespoke servery has been installed, with the necessary electrical and plumbing works completed to replace any need for refreshments to be prepared in the bell tower, prior to transferring throughout the building.
In normal circumstances, the Church will be available for use by the community, without charge, including use of the new servery, both during the day and evening, seven days a week except when it is in use for services.
Consorts, meetings, W.I gatherings, charity coffee mornings and fundraising events are just some of the gatherings expected to be accommodated at the venue.
