A13 Sadlers Farm Junction
The latest section of remedial works on the A13 / A130 Sadlers Farm ‘interchange’ is underway, one-year after initially being identified for upgrades in a series of routine inspections completed by Essex County Council.
Earthworks specialist Mick George Ltd will imminently begin enabling works on behalf of principal contractor Balfour Beatty PLC.
The 12-month programme aims to improve the longevity and reliability of this key junction and will include the advancement of current drainage systems on the A13 Link Road, the replacement of bearings on two bridges, as well as carriageway strengthening on the A13 near Pitsea.
A multi-phase traffic management plan has been implemented for the project, comprising of a series of lane closures, overnight and weekend works. Every effort is being made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and that vehicle movements continue in and around the area where possible for the local community.
Once complete, the project will ensure Sadlers Farm continues to deliver benefits to Essex residents and commuters over the next century and beyond.
Michael George, Contracting Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’Having proven our contracting credentials on one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Eastern region with the current works on the A14 Highway Improvement scheme, it’s good to be working on another Highways project away from our traditional operating areas.’’
