Transforming the Spinney Community Play Area
The Mick George Community Fund has provided financial support to the value of £19,885 to Cambridge County Council for the transformation of the Spinney community play area.
Cambridge County Council applied through the Mick George Community Fund, having identified the need for improvements to be made.
The Spinney play area is a well-used community space for many children and young people. The existing play equipment was broken or no longer fit for purpose, limiting safe, inclusive play opportunities.
Community Benefit
The Spinney play area is a vital community. The new equipment will provide safe, accessible, and stimulating opportunities, supporting physical activity, social interaction, and community wellbeing, complementing the wider youth hub to create a vibrant, welcoming space for all ages in the Waterlees estate.
With an estimated 5,000 visits to the play area per year, the improvements made by the Mick George Community Fund will allow the area to be enjoyed by the local community for many years to come.
