Although many individuals first reaction might be to panic, it is completely normal for your Concrete floors to not be completely level. But, there are solutions to this, so we’ve put together a complete guide to help you with your Concrete floor levelling.
If your Concrete floor wasn’t laid by professionals, this can potentially result in a uneven floor. When Concrete is laid out on large areas it can be prone to being a little inaccurate and uneven because of the difficulty when laying a wet and heavy material like Concrete.
What Causes Uneven Concrete Floors?
Floors tend to become uneven over a period of time due to various different reasons, but predominately it is a result of cracking and moisture. Whether you are looking to refinish an uneven floor yourself or completely replace the existing floor, you will need to level the Concrete floor to begin with.
When to use a Self Levelling Concrete Compound?
Using a self levelling Concrete compound to get a Concrete floor slab level will ultimately depend on how much out of level your floor is currently. Self levelling Concrete compound can only be used if the floor is out of level by 5mm or less. This can be checked using the following methods:
- Stripping off all the existing carpets, tiles or other flooring.
- Brushing down the floor along with removing any carpet tape or carpet gripper.
- Drop a golf ball on the floor in different areas and it will naturally roll to the lowest point of the floor.
- Then use a spirit level to measure exactly how much out of level that area of the floor is.
