Restrictions on the use of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) were introduced in the late 20th century due to the causality of potentially fatal diseases; however, prior to this period, Asbestos was widely used in the construction industry to build homes, commercial premises and other infrastructure developments, which are still standing and in use today.
While it’s safe to work or live in a building where Asbestos is present, this only remains the case whereby the material is undisturbed. When broken, Asbestos releases fine fibres into the atmosphere that can be inhaled and cause the disfunction of vital body organs, contributing towards diseases such as Lung Cancer, Asbestosis and Mesothelioma.
Subsequently, it is imperative that when removing or disposing of ACM’s, a professional contractor is sought.
