Asbestos in Sheds
Asbestos in sheds is usually found within the side panels which form the sheds outer structure or within the roof, due to the Asbestos cement component often used for its capability to resist harsh weather conditions. Check to see if the roof is made of a grey coloured corrugated material. If it is, then it more than likely contains Asbestos.
Is Asbestos in my shed dangerous?
Asbestos cement is very hard-wearing and will last a good 50-60 years before showing any signs of deterioration. Â So as long as you leave it alone it is perfectly safe. It only becomes dangerous if the material is disturbed and releases dust and fibres into the atmosphere that can be inhaled. However, given the nature of jobs completed within a shed, utilising power tools and similar, there is the possibility that the Asbestos could be disturbed, releasing Asbestos fibres into the air, causing danger to human health.
