Warboys Cricket Club

With the cricket season about to start, Warboys Cricket Club were in dire straits as their main pitch lawnmower had cut its final blade of grass after over 60 years of service to the club.

Panic was about to set in with the beginning of the season only weeks away, but thanks to the Mick George Sports Fund, the club through a successful grant application via Living Sport, were able to purchase a brand new mower just in time.

Club Chairman ‘Martin Croucher’ said that the grant from Mick George Ltd had really saved the day for the club which relies on a mower to prepare pitches for its 2 adult teams as well as it 5 junior teams that are aged between 5 & 16. Without the new mower, over 100 junior and senior players would have been affected, but Mick George Ltd has really saved the day for us. The new mower is fantastic and produces a real good finish which will help the club for years to come.

The clubs 2 groundsman (John Wright & Tony Edwards) who volunteer numerous hours of their own time in the upkeep of the ground, were equally enthusiastic as the new mower is not only much easier to use and more economical to run, but its saving them a number of hours a week, allowing them more time to focus on other volunteering activities as both also donate a lot of time to umpiring around the county.

The club and all its members would like to thank Mick George Ltd and its Sports Fund for this grant and for coming to the clubs rescue.
