09.02.16 - U's hotshots go head to head with premier opposition
As the U’s first team continue their play off push, the starlets of the clubs academy are set to test their credentials when the Under 16’s take on Liverpool at the Abbey Stadium on Monday 15th February (K.O 7.00pm).
Following the successful fixture against Tottenham Hotspur in October 2015, in which over 900 supporters turned out to support the club’s top schoolboy age group, the U16s will now pit their wits against the Reds.
The backing for the first team has been magnificent this season and it is anticipated that this will be replicated for the forthcoming fixture. The club is aiming for an even bigger attendance than last year’s to provide the players with the best possible experience.
Children aged 17 and under are able to attend the match totally free of charge, whilst adult tickets in the Main Stand are also available to purchase for just £5! It’s therefore a fantastic opportunity to watch the U’s brightest prospects for an extremely affordable price.
Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’For many of the youngsters among the Cambridge United youth scene this will be the start of what they hope will be an amazing career. No doubt many of them will be Liverpool supporters and this will be a dream come true.‘’
Stump Continued: ‘‘You only have to look at the club’s first team captain Luke Berry to acknowledge the importance of the youth set up and development process within the clubs long term aspirations. As club sponsor, we are pleased to see the scholars experiencing opportunities such as this.’’
