Top Track 250 Award Dinner 2019
The 15th annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 awards dinner was held on 19 November 2019 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
Having been included within the league standings for the second consecutive year; rising more than 60 places up the rankings, representatives from the Mick George Group were present among the other 290 guests; which included the founders, chairmen, CEOs and FDs of the featured companies.
Guest speakers were Chrissie Rucker, founder of The White Company, and Steve Hewitt, chief executive of Gymshark. Antony Sheriff, chief executive and executive chairman of Princess Yachts, spoke at a pre-dinner roundtable discussion.
Each company received a certificate, and Oliver Shah, business editor of The Sunday Times, presented the top company award to Holland & Barrett, which has grown its sales 6% to £697.3m in 2018, with profits of £110.7m.
Compiled by Fast Track, a leading research and events company, the table ranks Britain’s privately-owned mid-market growth companies by performance.
To achieve a listing within the league table, a number of demanding criteria have to be fulfilled, not least; total sales between £110 - £700m, profits up to £100m, sales / profit growth minimum of 5% annually and employed staff between 50 – 5,000.
The Mick George Group were one of just 11 companies from its core operating regions (Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Cambridgeshire) in the East to have made it on to the prestigious list, an impressive feat when you look at the stature of the many national 'giants' named alongside the construction brand; Holland & Barrett, Travelodge, and Virgin Active to name just a few.
Karen Farrell, Finance Director at the Mick George Group said: ''It is great recognition for the Group to be included within the Sunday Times Top Track 250 league table for the second year running. It reflects the continued efforts that everybody within our business is making for sustainable long-term success and is testament to their hard work and diligence.’’
Farrell continued: ‘’Although our overarching strategy and objectives are clear, we believe that our ability to embrace change and adapt to market forces has been fundamental in the growth that the business has achieved. It is an exciting time for the Company.’’
