1000 Companies to Inspire Britain
The London Stock Exchange Group has today published the sixth annual edition of their 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain report, which identifies the UK’s fastest growing businesses.
Focused on recognising Britain’s small and medium-sized businesses, from dynamic start-ups to established family firms, the release features companies from a range of sectors and regions, acknowledging the entrepreneurial drive witnessed across the UK at present.
While two-thirds of the companies included within the rankings were newly added, one local firm retained its status in the listings for the third consecutive year.
That organisation was Mick George Ltd. Representing one of the ninety-three businesses from the East of England region, Mick George Ltd occupied a space in the top performing sector; ‘Engineering and Construction’ recording revenues between £100m and £150m.
The top five industries, accounting for 44% of the list, are Engineering & Construction, Information Technology, Retail, Manufacturing and Healthcare. London and South East England continue to have the greatest number of companies, followed by North West England, East of England and the West Midlands.
Overall revenue growth of the companies featured in the report was 108%, up significantly from 70% last year. This trend is a real cause for celebration and is a measure of the immense contribution that these companies make to the economy overall.
