Somersham Bowls Club
Following a series of consultations with members, key partners and local residents, Somersham Town Bowls Club last year embarked on a significant project to upgrade their existing playing facilities, which is now complete.
Courtesy of funding from local construction business Mick George Ltd, a series of groundworks have been undertaken to vastly improve the entire amenity.
The total cost of the project was £37,050 and has seen a major overhaul on the ditch, bank, access and playing surface areas of the facility.
The ‘green’ which was considered dated and in urgent need of repair, due to the rotting wood and deteriorating gulley’s, has been replaced with a modern pre-formed Concrete alternative. Equally, the Health and Safety concerns that were raised during the petition have been eradicated with the appropriate prevention apparatus.
Barry Eley, of Somersham Town Bowls Club said: ‘’The funding has allowed us to provide a top-quality facility for the foreseeable future with sufficient capacity and resilience to cater for the increasing demand that we are experiencing. Notwithstanding the vibrant community spirit that it has contributed towards. We are very appreciative if the support provided by Mick George.’’
Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘‘Somersham is an area that we have a longstanding relationship with due to our nearby operating site. We are continuously grateful for the ongoing support of the local residents and will endeavour to offer assistance to the area wherever feasible.’’
