The Brief

Mick George Ltd was associated with the Demolition of buildings, including the main Water Tower, as well as Asbestos removal of Licensed, Notifiable Non-Licensed and Non-Licensed materials.

Laying derelict for almost 20 years after closing its doors, Severalls Hospital, Colchester, is currently undergoing major demolition works to the decaying shell that still remains, to accommodate a joint venture from Bloor Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Bellway Homes to install a mixture of 730 flats, bungalows and houses, across 104 acres of land.

The 300-acre site, which was built in May 1913 to accommodate at least 2,000 patients, was shut down in the early 1990s before a separate section for the elderly closed in March 1997.

The dilapidated site, originally designed as a mental health hospital, has since fallen into an extreme state of disrepair, and has attracted interest surrounding paranormal activity.

Testimonials

For what was a particularly complex Demolition project, Mick George Ltd made it look very simple, handling all requirements in a thoroughly professional manner. No stone was left unturned with regards to safety or scheduling, with the constraints of the site fully considered from the outset. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mick George Ltd for its Demolition services.
