Salvation Army Depot
A project to create a large factory which will sort and distribute charity donations is underway at Kettering Business Park with local firm Mick George Ltd to begin Earthworks on behalf of Parkway Construction MK Ltd.
The facility will act as a depot for the Salvation Army, a charity tackling social inequality for more than 150 years.
The new build will be situated on 2.34ha of brownfield land and will contain 5,250 sq.m of floor space, 45 car parking spaces, a service yard which will be suitable for 17 HGV’s and 53 vans, as well as providing 114 employment opportunities for the nearby community.
Northamptonshire is becoming somewhat of a hotspot for charity operations. The Salvation Army already run a clothing collection centre at Pytchley Lodge, while the Red Cross have recently opened logistics centre just 15-miles away in Bulwick.
Michael George, Managing Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’The Salvation Army rely on both physical and financial donations to aid revenue streams. Their new facility should improve logistics with regards to storing and distribution of products to retail outlets in the region.’’
