Rushton Cricket Club has completed significant upgrades to their current Pavilion
Rushton Cricket Club
Rushton Cricket Club is a community cricket club providing league participation for Under-11; Under-13 and Under-15 mixed, youth cricket in the Wilson Brown League, plus a further adults team in the Northamptonshire Cricket League.
Following correspondence with the Parish Council for use of the Pavilion for two events in 2019, it became apparent that they had some concerns with regards to the robustness of the current building.
Thanks to a £28,800 grant from the Mick George Community Fund, Rushton Cricket Club has completed significant upgrades to their current Pavilion, including brand-new doors which will enhance security levels, following previous breaks-ins at the facility.
In addition further internal and external decorations have been completed, including a new carpet, lighting and a car-park gateway, plus machinery maintenance and a boundary rope and carrier.
Rushton Cricket Club is recognised in the local community as a critical amenity and the advancements will only enhance its appeal for nearby residents.
As a small rural community, Rushton must be able to provide facilities which families moving to the village will have access to, thus ensuring community cohesion. The Cricket Club is a space that allows families to socialise in a safe environment.
The junior section of the Club now boasts more Rushton junior residents playing cricket than ever before; this is something the Club Committee is very proud of and have worked hard to ensure this pipeline of young talent from the village continues.
