RDF Export Growth in 2023
England’s exports of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) rose by 9.5% in the first nine months of 2023, compared to 2022.
A recent report has found that 1,158,891 tonnes of RDF were exported between January and September of this year, when compared to the 1,058,711 tonnes from the same period in 2022.
RDF Export Projections
The data also tells us that the spike in RDF exports throughout England is a trend that looks set to remain for the rest of 2023 with total RDF exports up 7% year-on-year. The increase is thought to be due to a number of reasons which include:
- The need for Europe to reduce reliance on Russian gas
- Demand for waste globally has increased due to reduced waste volumes being collected.
