Aggregate Priorities Set for Next Government

A recent report has called for the Government to focus on the supply of essential domestic mineral products, specifically in reference to housing, transport, schools and hospitals, flood defences, and renewable energy infrastructure.

Three Key Mineral Priorities Outlined

A recent report has called for the Government to focus on the supply of essential domestic mineral products, specifically in reference to housing, transport, schools and hospitals, flood defences, and renewable energy infrastructure.

The publication highlights three main areas of concentration to support UK industry, including decarbonisation, Growth, and Delivery within the mineral product market.

Recommended Action for Government

Decarbonised and competitive sector: Government to implement a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism by 2026, to aid delivery on a industrial-scale of carbon capture schemes at pace.

Streamlined planning for growth: More efficient planning operations to allow for growth within the Construction industry if the ambitious housing targets and infrastructure commitments set out in Government manifestos are to be achieved.

Improved infrastructure delivery: The support of both the minerals industry and the wider economy, from roads and rail to water and energy. There is a huge pipeline of work needed, and that requires mineral products with reliable delivery infrastructure in place.
