12.07.2016 - POSH dress to impress ahead of seasons opener

This weekend saw the official kit launch from Peterborough United Football Club at Serpentine Green, Hampton. A quartet of POSH players took to the catwalk to unveil the 2016-2017 strip in front of hundreds of eagerly awaiting supporters.

The clubs new skipper Chris Forrester, defender Jack Baldwin, midfielder Adil Nabi and summer signing Ryan Tafazolli strutted their stuff at the event, prior the loudest cheer of the day as new manager Grant McCann gave his thoughts on the new season ahead.

The beautiful kit has a number of new features including the revised Mick George Logo at its heart.

As supporters lined the isles of the shopping centre to purchase their replica shirts, the players completed a signing session, while official sponsors Mick George Ltd were in attendance providing entertainment to all throughout the day.

The Mick George Cheerleaders performed a number of routines, while ‘Mick the Skip’ mascot was his effervescent self. The clear winner of the day was the new ‘Inflatable Shootout’ which received overwhelming interest and interaction from fans, shoppers and on-lookers, both young and old.

The new game from Mick George Ltd is an added addition to the ‘Chip in the Skip’ challenge but certainly appeared to be a welcomed one. The sponsors were giving away a replica kit for the highest score accumulated for 3 shots at the testing targets. Over 500 contestants participated, with George, aged 10, leading for a large part of the day after skilfully positioning each of his efforts in the 30 points target totalling 90 points, before he was joined late on by Leo, also aged 10, at the top of the table, both taking home the main prize.

Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd: ‘’As ever, the loyal POSH fans came out in force to get a first glimpse of the new kit and I’m sure they weren’t disappointed. The event is a good way for the club, and us as main sponsor to engage with the supporters. We’re always keen to keep things fresh so have made adjustments to the Mick George Logo as well as the introduction of the ‘Inflatable Shootout.’’

Stump continued: ‘’We have a number of new and exciting things prepared for the new season. Like everyone connected to the club, we can’t wait for the season to get underway next month.’’
