19.05.2016 - Mick George Ltd takes Gold
Local Business Mick George Ltd has chalked up another accreditation, having been awarded ‘Gold’ in the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
FORS is a voluntary accreditation scheme encompassing all aspects of safety, fuel efficiency, vehicle emissions and improved operations. FORS helps fleet operators to measure and monitor performance and alter their operations in order to demonstrate best practice. It is open to operators of vans, Lorries, mini-buses, coaches and other vehicles, and to the organisations that award contracts to those operators.
The Gold accreditation is only awarded to exceptional operators who have met exacting targets and FORS standards when formal company audits are carried out by an independent FORS certification body. Mick George Ltd has shown progression over a number of years, previously achieving the Bronze and Silver accreditation before now achieving the pinnacle award this time around.
The business has undertaken a host of activities to continually develop its offering. In addition to the ‘Driver Academy’ training scheme that the company provides for new and experienced drivers, they have committed to a number of initiatives to improve safety in local communities. These include, voluntary no drive zones, advisory speed limit restrictions and school road safety demonstrations as well as huge investment in GPS technologies within the vehicles.
Joe Gossage, Transport Manager at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’This is a wonderful achievement for the company, and something we are proud to have received. The company invests a lot of time and effort improving the provisions that surround our fleet as we recognise its importance in the daily running of the business. This is something that we will continually look to develop as we move forward.’’
