30.03.2016 - Mick George Ltd join Northamptonshire Police Road Safety Initiative
Open Roads, a fun and educational event aimed at providing the public with the opportunity to not only enjoy a variety of driving experiences, demonstrations and displays, but also to pick up plenty of road safety advice and tips, takes place this weekend.
More than 30 activities, stands and demonstrations will be on offer during a free day at Rockingham Circuit, organised by Northamptonshire Police and with thousands of people expected to attend there will be plenty to see and do, for people of all ages.
Gemma Rutland, Community Engagement Officer for the joint Safer Roads Team (Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service), said: “We hope that everyone who comes along has a great family day out but we must remember there is an important reason why we are holding the event; to help send out vital safety messages and help prevent casualties on our roads.’’
Following on from its recent ‘Be Seen, Be Safe’ commercial vehicle demonstrations that Mick George Ltd has been issuing to school children in the nearby communities, the business is set to continue by bringing along two of its vehicles to the ‘Open Roads’ day for children to climb aboard and witness the enhanced safety features.
Additional entertainment at the event includes, mock Police pursuits, simulated fire and rescue service, a display of modified supercars, an array of motorbikes as well as a bouncy castle and face painting to amuse the younger ones.
Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’Road safety is of paramount importance to Mick George Ltd, and anyone who comes into interaction with any of our vehicles is at the forefront of our minds when out on the roads of the communities in which we operate.’’
Stump Continued: ‘’We invest a lot of time, money and resource in to improving our fleet and the ability of our drivers to improve safety. It is nice to see others taking a lead to drive such an important message and it’s always a pleasure to work alongside the Northamptonshire Police once again.’’
