Macmillan Cancer Support
For the past two years, Mick George Ltd has provided financial support to a value in excess of £250,000 as part of its ‘Charity of the Year’ commitments, to Sue Ryder and Addenbrookes Charitable Trust, respectively.
And the business seems to have upped the stakes for 2017, with the announcement that Mick George Ltd has formed a coalition with multiple, major national charities, providing support on a regional level.
One of the charities that Mick George Ltd has pledged to donate funds to, is ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’. To kick-start the initiative, the company has already given £1,500, from recent fundraising activities that were pursued at Peterborough United FC and Truckfest last month.
About the Charity
Macmillan Cancer Support provides emotional, practical, financial and medical support and services to people and their friends and families affected by cancer.
Cancer affects everything. Your body, your relationships, your money, everything. But Macmillan is here to help people live life, no matter what, by providing the practical, emotional, and genuinely personal support needed to hold on to who you are and what’s important to you.
Macmillan can be there during treatment, help with work and money worries and will always listen if you need to talk. Macmillan has helped millions of people through cancer from diagnosis, during treatment and beyond.
Life with cancer is still life and Macmillan will help you live it.
Claire Singlehurst, Director of Relationship Fundraising at Macmillan Cancer Support, stated: “We would like to thank Mick George for choosing Macmillan Cancer Support as one of their Charity Partners during 2017/18. Their involvement and commitment will help us provide support and services for people, their friends and families living with cancer. We are looking forward to working with them and developing an exciting programme of activity over the next 12 months.’’
Why Macmillan was Selected
Almost one in two of us will get cancer at some point in our lives – that’s almost half of our colleagues, friends, suppliers and customers. Macmillan’s ambition is to reach everyone who needs them, but relies on the support of companies like Mick George Ltd to do this. Whatever you do, and no matter how much you raise, you really are making a difference to the lives of people living with cancer.
Macmillan is a national charity supporting people locally in every community across the UK. Macmillan works closely with NHS Trusts and other service providers to identify local needs and to develop support and services where they are needed most. An example of this is the recently completed Macmillan Garden Room at Hinchingbrooke Hospital that will provide a non-clinical space where people can access support services to help them feel well during and after their treatment.
With more people surviving cancer, more funds are needed to support them. Many people have side-effects from cancer and its treatment which can have a huge impact on their life, years after treatment ends.
