Living Sports Awards
The annual Living Sport Sports Awards 2018 took place this week, with hundreds of representatives of those that were shortlisted for recognition, in attendance at the Burgess Hall, St. Ives, venue.
The evening celebrated the brilliant sporting achievements of the many talented athletes, officials, coaches, volunteers, organisations and clubs in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region.
Twelve separate awards were presented on the night.
One of which was ‘Matthew Warn Power of Sport Award’ that was secured by ‘Community First Boxing Project’’.
The award was sponsored by local construction business Mick George Ltd. The firm, in collaboration with Living Sport Charity now offers a dedicated ‘Sports Fund’, which has in its inaugural year running the initiative has supported more than 14 different sports with in excess of £52,000.
Simon Fairhall, Chief Executive of Living Sport said: “The quality of the nominees for our Sports Awards was once again fantastic and the contribution made by them, individually, let alone collectively is really quite inspiring.’’
Fairhall continued: ‘’Community sport would not exist without the significant contribution made by organisers and coaches, most of whom are volunteers, and their organisations. Our Sports Awards are a great occasion for us to celebrate, recognise and reward this.’’
Jon Stump, Joint Chief Executive Officer at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’Our first year in partnership with Living Sport has been a real success. We have managed to expand our support of local sports initiatives, witnessing some fantastic progress along the way, which local communities will benefit from for generations to come.’’
