Last year, market leading powertrain and e-Drive solutions provider Integral Powertrain Ltd confirmed it had invested in a 3-acre site at Shenley Wood, Milton Keynes UK which will see the company create a new state of the art Technical Centre to support its e-Drive growth.
Planned to be operational by Q3 2019, local contractor Mick George Ltd is set to begin enabling works imminently on behalf of Warwick Burt Construction for the new facility.
The new build represents an initial investment of £6M, excluding facilitation and will support the company’s recent success which has seen it outgrow its existing locations, making expansion a necessity to ensure the levels of service and quality their customers have come to expect.
Once complete, as well as providing over 250 employment opportunities, there will be 47,000 sq. ft. of floor area, more than double that in the existing Technical Centre and its annex. The area also offers potential to further increase through internal expansion to 59,000 sq. ft.
A twin link will connect the offices to a large workshop, which houses 8 new purpose build test cells with support areas, material handling, inspection, machining facility, electrical and mechanical prototype build and a low volume production manufacturing area as well as zones reserved for 4 additional cells
Integral Powertrain’s upgraded vehicle emissions and climate test facility will remain at its existing location in Kiln Farm, Milton Keynes.
Michael George, Managing Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’As a business who firmly embraces technological innovation it is good to see another market leader pushing the boundaries in their respective field, especially if we can play a part in building the infrastructure that will permit any evolution.’’
George continued: ‘’It’s nice to be involved with a project that will specialise in developing E-Drive solutions as it will clearly offer environmental benefits for which we have a particular interest given our business’s Waste Management responsibility.’’
