Britain’s small and medium-sized businesses are the cornerstone of the UK economy. From dynamic start-ups to established family firms, they showcase the UK as an entrepreneurial and versatile place to do business.
One business that certainly ‘fits such billing’ is Mick George Ltd. With increasing regularity, the brand is appearing within significant business publications, and listings, for all the right reasons.
It is familiar territory for the company to be ranked within the ‘top performing Cambridgeshire organisations’, but its latest inclusion is certainly one to be proud of. Surpassing regional exposure, Mick George Ltd has now received recognition at a national level as one of ‘1000 Companies Inspiring Britain, 2017’.
In the fourth edition of the annual report from the London Stock Exchange, highlighting 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain, the pioneering publication continues to identify the United Kingdom’s most dynamic SMEs and high growth potential companies across sectors and regions.
The research provided an interesting snapshot of the UK business community. As would probably be expected, Greater London dominated geographically, with Mick George Ltd representing 1 of only 14 businesses from the Cambridgeshire region. Correspondingly, the ‘Construction and Engineering’ sector seems particularly boyant, charging ahead of its counterparts by a substantial distance.
Xavier Rolet KBE, CEO, London Stock Exchange Group stated: ‘’When we launched the inaugural edition of this report, we said our aim was to bring to life what we instinctively knew to be true: that these companies are the lifeblood of the UK economy. Four years on, this report not only shows that continues to be the case, but also that – in these times of global macroeconomic and geo-political uncertainty – these companies are our greatest prospect for building a resilient and productive economy.’’
Theresa May, UK Prime Minister said: ‘’I want to congratulate all of the 1000 high growth and innovative companies across the UK featured in this year’s report. These businesses and many more like them are going to be a crucial part of our mission to build a stronger, fairer country. They are the ones who will help deliver prosperity that is shared by everyone, helping to command the public trust that is needed to maximise the opportunities that free markets and free trade bring.''
Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’This is undoubtedly an exciting time for our business. Our philosophy of continuous investment allows us to nurture potential, and in doing so remain an innovative business that leads from the front in our industry.’’
