Hinchingbrooke Cup Final Sponsor

As anticipated, the Hinchingbrooke Cup Final 2017, certainly lived up to expectation as two of the ‘United Counties Premier Division’ free-scoring clubs went head-to-head in a bid to claim glory and local bragging rights.

League Champions Peterborough Sports and runners-up Deeping Rangers, who have scored 273 goals between them, served up a ‘cracker’ from Yaxley FC’s home ground.

Rangers’ went into the match buoyed by the fact that they were only one of two teams too come out victorious against Sports’ in 2016/17, but Sports’ who were looking to defend one of the four trophies they won last campaign, were certainly looking to avenge that result.

The slick artificial turf at ‘In2itive Park’ allowed both teams to put on an entertaining match. The final was a closely contested encounter, but a ‘stunning’ volley in the dying minutes which was befitting of winning any final, meant that Sports’ took the title of Hinchingbrooke Cup Champions, adding yet another honour to their trophy cabinet.

Established in 1894 ‘The Hinchingbrooke Challenge Cup’ holds an acclaimed heritage and is widely recognised within footballing communities stretching throughout Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

The competition is open to teams competing at steps 5-7 of the national league pyramid system, ensuring a level of competition appropriate to playing abilities and facilities. The tournament is charity based and relies on funding and support from numerous parties.

One of which is local construction business Mick George Ltd who have provided invaluable support and finances for consecutive years as the main official sponsor of the Hinchingbrooke Cup.
