Crane Mead Business Park Demolition: 101 Apartments
Construction company Mick George Ltd will shortly commence Demolition and Asbestos Removal works on behalf of Hills Partnership Ltd, as part of a £23million redevelopment of Ware’s Crane Mead Business Park in Hertfordshire, to create 101 residential apartments.
The project which was given the green light following negotiations between planning consultants and East Hertfordshire Council, dates as far back as 2014, and will see both living and commercial premises formed.
The development will be occupied by Metropolitan Housing Trust Ltd (MHT), one of the UK’s leading providers of affordable housing and care and support services, and comprises a mixed tenure of 73 dwellings for shared ownership, with the remaining 28 for general rent.
Made up of 1,2 and 3 bedroom-flats, the initiative is set to keep the MHT group’ on target to achieve its ambitious pipeline to deliver 1,000 new homes a year.
The scheme is arranged in a series 4, 3 and 2-storey blocks, fronting the River Lea. All of which are designed in-keeping with the existing waterside development and adjacent commercial business plots.
Laid out over seven blocks, although one plot will remain for entirely commercial purpose, the remaining six will consist of employment space predominantly on ground-floor, with living space utilised at higher levels and roof space.
In addition, approximately 21,500 sq. ft. of commercial space and 107 parking spaces will be produced.
Michael George, Contracts Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’We’ve recently concluded Earthworks on the major North West Cambridge and have concluded several other projects of this nature in partnership with Hills’.’’
George continued: ‘’As a result of the service that we provided, the relationship has strengthened between the two organisations and we have now been given the opportunity to showcase our Demolition qualities. We find that a number of major Contractors that we work alongside, really benefit having the ability to call on one supplier who can provide multiple provisions.‘’
