Haverhill Research Centre
A £6.2m project to create a new innovation and research centre at Haverhill Research Park is set to get underway imminently, with the Mick George Group to begin Earthworks at the site on behalf of Parkway Construction Ltd.
The facility which is to be recognised as the ‘EpiCentre’ will see the creation of a 30,000 sq.ft, four-storey building, comprising offices and R&D accommodation together with conference and meeting rooms, training facilities and a ‘work-hub’ area for shared working.
This landmark building will be situated adjacent to the ‘Spirit of Enterprise’ roundabout at the entrance to Haverhill and is anticipated to act as a catalyst in unlocking the towns full potential, specifically for start-up and growing businesses.
The scheme is to be collaboratively funded by a loan from West Suffolk Council and an investment from the ‘Local Growth Fund’ of Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority.
The location is set in the heart of the South Cambridge Business and Technology Cluster and should help West Suffolk Council fulfil its ambition and drive to attract jobs and opportunities to the area, boosting the economic climate.
With plans confirmed for nearly 4,000 new houses to be built in the area, the additional employment opportunities will certainly be welcomed and timely news.
Michael George, Managing Director at the Mick George Group commented: ‘’Cambridgeshire is a hive of construction activity at present which symbolises the positive economic climate that currently exists in the region. We’re involved with many similar projects, so know exactly what’s required.’’
