Fenstanton Play Area

The festive period may have come to an end, but youngsters in the Civil Parish of Fenstanton, Cambridgeshire (Huntingdonshire) have received another present courtesy of an upgraded play area at the Chequer Street location.

Courtesy of a £9,629 grant from local construction firm Mick George Ltd, works were completed on the park just before the Christmas break, allowing local residents to start enjoying the new facilities immediately in the new year.

Some of the new apparatus include; a pine swing, rocking horse, rocking hen, slide, carousel and grass-mat layers, to name but a few of the elements.

The upgrades are a result of requests from various parents to incorporate more play facilities to be used by younger children, as well a general concern about the condition of the existing equipment.

It is also hoped that, in the not too distant future, that work could be carried out on the remaining wooden play structure to prolong its useful life and make it more pleasing to the eye.

A spokesperson connected to the project said: ‘’now completed, hopefully it will give parents and young children the opportunity to enjoy the play area more - especially with the inclusion of the new “Me and You” swing seat.’’

Jon Stump, Joint CEO at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’The village of Fenstanton is situated within our core operating areas and we’re extremely grateful for the support that we’ve received from the local community over the years. For that reason, we would always try to help with any improvements that would prove beneficial to the nearby residents. I’m sure that the improvements will be enjoyed for generations to come.’’
