'Fantastic Five' receive community support
The end of 2016 saw Mick George Ltd achieve a significant milestone, reaching the £2 million point in its funding donations from the Mick George Community Fund.
That initiative is specifically targeted towards local projects or developments requiring financial assistance in excess of £5,000, up to as much as £100,000. However, the business recognises that not all initiatives require such levels of support, and for this reason has a sponsorship programme for smaller projects within the counties that the business operates.
Split in to four separate rounds, the opening round of 2017 has presented six separate assignments with a total value of £2,500, set to receive sponsorship in the next few months to support the staging of forthcoming events or improvements.
- St Ives in Bloom park and ride project, St. Ives
- Football for RAF Heroes, Sixfields stadium, Northamptonshire
- Strawberries and Cream Festival, Cambridge
- Quorn Community Garden, Leicestershire
- Long Sutton Barns Community and Crafts Centre, Lincolnshire
- Moulton Primary School, Mud Kitchen Project, Northamptonshire
Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd: ‘’The sheer volume of applicants for sponsorship assistance from our business highlights just how difficult it is for these often charity or volunteer lead initiatives to generate the finances required to host such events.’’
Stump continued: ‘’The enjoyment that the attendees get from these events, shows the true value of each to the respective local communities. Large volumes of spectators, participants and passers-by will benefit from the selected initiatives, which makes it all the more worthwhile to us. We hope that our support enhances the experience.’’
There are four local sponsorship rounds each year for applicants to submit entries for consideration. The next funding stage will be ending at the end of March 2017.
