More than one year on since celebrity icons; Nick Knowles, Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen and their entourage of followers from the BBC arrived in Mildenhall, Cambridgeshire, the DIY SOS renovation at the home of Cambridge United FC supporter, Simon Dobbin is due to be aired on Thursday 17th January, 8pm.
Simon who is a loving father, husband and football fan, had his life change forever after being brutally set upon by a group of men in an unprovoked attack whilst following his football team at an away fixture. Unfortunately, the occurrence left Simon fighting for his life in intensive care, leaving him permanently brain damaged.
After many months in hospital, Simon is now finally home, living with his wife and full-time carer, Nicole. However, the house was deemed unfit for purpose and was hindering Simons rehabilitation process, placing continued strain on the family’s life. Hence the urgent need for help.
Hundreds of local tradesmen and businesses generously contributed towards the development, including Mick George Ltd who provided in excess of £7,000 worth of waste management and aggregate material solutions.
The project included a downstairs extension, bedroom, physio space, wet-room, social space and the ability to access the entire ground floor and rear garden, all with the bespoke care provision that Simon will need.
