Deer Park School
A £21m construction project of a new secondary school at Uplands Farm, Botley in Southampton is set to get underway, with the Mick George Group contracted to complete Bulk Excavation and Soil Stabilisation works on behalf of Kier.
The site which is situated west of Woodhouse Lane, Hedge End will be recognised as Deer Park School and will initially accommodate 120 Year 7 pupils, rising to 1,050 at full capacity.
Scheduled to be open from September 2021, the new school will form part of the Wildern Academy Trust and will consists of two buildings; a three-storey main school building (6573m²) and two-storey sports hall building (1092m²).
The main building includes a central library/learning resource centre, ICT rich classrooms, science labs, art rooms, design and technology facilities, as well as a music and drama department. Once complete, the education amenity will provide a high-quality, modern learning environment.
Several of the facilities will also be available for out-of-hours use by local groups, teams and sports organisations.
The project has arisen as part of plans that were approved to create hundreds of new homes, sports pitches, open spaces and highway infrastructure on Uplands Farm Estate, a site owned by Hampshire County Council and identified for future housing development in Eastleigh Borough Council’s Local Plan.
