The residents of Somersham are due to benefit from access improvements to their local nature reserve, following a £10,000 grant from the Mick George Community Fund.
The Friends of Somersham Nature Reserve who look after the site will use the funding to carry out various projects as a result of considerable consultation with community groups, residents and societies.
The developments include; the creation of two new disabled access points, installation of information boards, and an audio-sound post with steam train sound effects. In addition, informative collateral on the nature reserve, its wildlife and connecting rights of way will also be created.
It’s anticipated this will encourage more local people and the wider community to use the nature reserve, given the enhanced access provisions, enabling new parents, older and less agile residents to enjoy new regions of the location that have previously been restricted.
