CUFC Skip Challenge Winners
On and off the pitch, it was smiles all round from the Cambs Glass Stadium at the weekend, as the U’s ran out winners in their last home league game of the season, against Crawley Town FC. Subsequently it sets up a nervous encounter when the club heads to Wycombe Wanderers FC looking to land themselves a playoff position, in the last match of the season.
As you can imagine, the U’s faithful turned up the atmosphere throughout the game, helped by the pre-match activities from club sponsors Mick George Ltd, who provided many fitting entertainment tributes to what turned out to be a spectacular occasion. The ‘clappers’ were certainly a welcomed addition, for young and old alike.
If that wasn’t enough for the supporters to be cheerful about, two lucky contestants also managed to land themselves a cash prize, as well as a signed replica, framed Cambridge United FC shirt, having successfully completed the Skip Challenge during the half time interval. Both Kevin Houston and Anthony Threadgold can be seen photographed, alongside the Mick George Cheerleaders, above.
Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’With so much riding on the match, there was always the potential that the day could have been an anti-climax, or somewhat of a disappointment. That said, everyone connected with the club should be very proud of their efforts, it was a fantastic result that means the promotion push is very much alive.’’
Stump continued: ‘’Congratulations to the two gentlemen who successfully completed the Skip Challenge, and hopefully there will be many more winners next year. Hopefully, in front of League One opposition. As ever, we will be doing our part to improve the matchday experience for the last game of the season, and hope those taking the trip on the ‘VIP Party Bus’ really do have a reason to celebrate on their return.’’
