Civil engineering continued its acceleration and has seen rises almost monthly throughout this year.
Strong Upturn in UK Construction Output
Despite new orders easing to a five month low, the headline S & P Global UK Construction Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) still recorded a score of 55.2 in November, up from 54.3 in October.
The figures represent a significant industry growth when benchmarked against the standard 50.0 threshold rating.
Contributors to Construction Output Growth
A faster upturn in construction output was driven by the strongest rise in commercial work for two-and-a-half years.
Civil engineering continued its acceleration and has seen rises almost monthly throughout this year, recording a score of 55.9.
House building (47.9) remained the weakest performing category which is said to be due to elevated borrowing costs and fragile consumer confidence at this time.
Construction Market Finishes Strong
The construction sector has experienced growth throughout November and continues to post good PMI scores across the majority of categories. Despite a slow start to the year, the UK construction market is finishing 2024 strong which is a huge positive as we head into 2025.
