Cambridge Charity Fundraiser
Cambridge Charity Fundraisers are a voluntary organisation raising money for local charities through various sponsorship events.
Their annual sporting dinner is scheduled for this evening (5th April) at the Abbey Stadium, Cambridge, and will celebrate the 40-year service of Ian Darler - the man behind the operation.
Local construction business, Mick George Ltd will for the fifth consecutive year be the headline sponsor for the occasion and has committed to another significant financial donation to the cause. This years selected Charity is Arthur Rank Hospice.
Historically, the event has raised more than £20,000, a figure that is set to rise following tonight's event, with a selection of wonderful sporting memorabilia and other prizes set to be raffled off, contributing even more funds towards the Charity.
Master of Ceremonies Jeremy Milnes will be hosting the evening, which will be attended by more than 235 businessmen and women, from the county.
In addition, special guests include; England international footballer Andy Sinton, and comedian Jed Stone.
The former, began his football career at Cambridge United FC back in 1982, making his debut aged just 16, racking-up nearly 100 appearances for the Club. Andy also managed to achieve sixteen ‘Caps’ for his country.
While the latter, Jed, has been delivering comedy to mass audiences with his versatile routines on TV and Radio, appearing alongside high-profile sporting stars, such as Mike Tyson and Paul Gascoigne.
