Business Optimism Rebounds from 13 Month Low
Despite new Construction work rising at the slowest pace since June 2024, business optimism has rebounded from a 13 month low believed to be due to an increase in long term business expansion plans.
Global UK Construction Purchasing Managers’ Index
UK construction companies indicated a loss of momentum at the end of 2024 with total business activity expanding at the slowest pace since last June. New order growth moderated for the third month running.
The headline S&P Global UK Construction Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) registered 53.3 in December, down from 55.2 in November and the lowest for six months. Although the figures appear negative, the index has posted above the crucial 50.0 rating once again which has been sustained since March 2024.
The latest reports have revealed a solid upturn in overall construction output, with many business feeling optimistic for the year to come.
