Recycling Award

Kiverco can reveal that its work in partnership with the Mick George Group has been shortlisted in the Partnership of the year category for The National Recycling Awards.

This partnership has conceived, built and operates four recycling plants each providing 3,000 annual operating hours collectively diverting 1,161,000 tonnes of waste from landfill every year:

St Ives, Cambridgeshire, with a throughput of 80tph, recovers hardcore for construction projects and wood, rigid plastics, cardboard and metals for recycling.

Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, with a throughput of 30tph, recovers clean heavies to be recycled and reused locally.

Mountsorrel, Leicestershire with space restrictions limiting the amount of sorting on site utilises a Walair air separation system to produce clean heavies for local reuse and recycling. The light material is further processed at a hub site. Throughput is 25tph.

The hub site at Great Billing, Northamptonshire which includes a Rentec primary shredder and Walair air separation system for high capacity, low labour separation of products provides throughput of 60tph.

The partnership was formed to upscale business, increase profits and achieve maximum positive environmental impact for the Mick George Group. Specifically, placeing it in pole position to attract larger customers, expand geographical footprint, produce more and cleaner products while meeting zero waste-to-landfill sustainability goals.

The partnership has achieved all goals – a reduction in OPEX costs, dramatic increase of automation and processing capacity, higher recovery rates, higher purity rates of recyclates and products creating a wealth of new resources. The plants were built to divert 1,161,000 tonnes of waste from landfill annually. During 2019 1.6m tonnes of waste was actually from landfill.
